Terms of Service

Last updated 10 September 2026

These terms cover your use of QuicKcals, a food diary available at quickcals.com. By creating an account you agree to them. They are written to be read, not to be impressive.

Who provides this service

QuicKcals is operated as a sole trader business based in the United Kingdom. Questions, complaints and cancellation requests all go to hello@quickcals.com.

Your account

  • You must be 16 or over to hold an account.
  • One person per account. You are responsible for what happens under yours, so keep the password to yourself.
  • Tell us promptly if you think someone else has got into it.
  • You can delete your account from Settings at any time, and doing so deletes your diary with it.

Plans and prices

There is a free plan and there are paid plans. What each one includes is shown in the app before you buy, and on the home page.

Every price shown includes VAT. The figure on the page is the figure charged — nothing is added at checkout. Payments are processed by Stripe, which acts as merchant of record and handles the VAT. Card details are entered on Stripe's own pages and never reach us.

Subscriptions renew automatically — monthly plans monthly, annual plans annually — until cancelled. If a price changes, the new price applies from your next renewal and never mid-term, and you will be told before it takes effect with enough notice to cancel first.

Cancelling, and getting your money back

You can cancel at any time, from Settings → Manage subscription. Your plan keeps working until the end of the period you have already paid for, and then stops. Nothing further is charged.

14-day cooling-off. Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you have 14 days from subscribing to change your mind and get a refund. Because access starts immediately, that 14-day right is one you would ordinarily give up by starting to use the service — so we do not rely on that: ask within 14 days and you get a full refund, whether or not you have used it.

Beyond 14 days there is no automatic refund for the remainder of a period, but if something has gone genuinely wrong — the app was down, a feature you paid for did not work, you were charged twice — email and it will be put right. Refunds are made to the original payment method.

A free month earned through an invite is exactly that: if you cancel during it, nothing has been charged and there is nothing to refund.

Invites

The referral scheme gives the person you invite their first month free, and gives you a month of your plan's price back as credit once their first real payment is taken. Credit is applied to your Stripe account and used against future invoices; it has no cash value and cannot be withdrawn. Inviting accounts you control yourself, or creating accounts to farm rewards, voids them.

What the app is, and is not

QuicKcals is not medical advice. It is a diary that estimates. Calorie and macronutrient figures — especially those produced by AI from a description or a photo — are approximations and will sometimes be wrong. Targets, trend weights and projections are calculated from your own numbers using general formulas, not from any assessment of you.

Do not use it to manage a medical condition, and speak to a doctor or a registered dietitian before making significant changes to what you eat, particularly if you are pregnant, under 18, or have a history of disordered eating.

Where nutrition data comes from a public database, it is that database's figure and not one we have verified. Where it comes from a connected device, it is that device's measurement.

Fair use

Paid plans include a daily allowance of AI estimates and a monthly limit on what those estimates may cost to run. Both are shown in the app. They are set well above what anybody keeping a diary uses, and exist so that automated or abnormal use cannot run up an unbounded bill. Reaching a limit pauses AI estimates for the rest of the period; everything else — search, barcodes, your saved meals, your history — keeps working.

Don't use the service to break the law, don't try to get into other people's accounts, and don't attempt to scrape it, resell it, or drive it with automated traffic.

Availability

We aim to keep the service running and to keep your data safe — it is backed up daily — but this is a small operation and no uptime guarantee is offered. Features may be added, changed or withdrawn. If a change materially reduces what you are paying for, you will be told and can cancel for a pro-rata refund of the unused part of your term.

You can export your own data from Settings at any time, and we would encourage you to, since it is your diary.

Ending it

You can leave whenever you like. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, that is used fraudulently, or that is charging back payments it made; where we do that without cause, any unused paid time is refunded.

Liability

Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited — and nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

Subject to that, our liability arising from your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them, and anyone with a paid subscription is emailed before a material change takes effect.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you keep the right to bring proceedings in your own courts.
